Lost Paws Flyers

Making your flyers

Here is the type of information that needs and some that should not to be included in your flyer.

kitten paw not include your name or your child's image that may be in a picture with your pet. Exclude your child's image, for safety reasons.
kitten paw of scammers; do not give your reward money to anyone before your pet is back in your arms. Bring a friend with you to make the exchange of money and pet.
kitten paw laminate your telephone flyers, do not substitute with plastic sheets covers, moister can get inside to your paper flyer ruining it, so it can not be read making it virtually useless.
Make two types of flyers:

  1. The first should contain all the information about your lost pet with a small photo included, for handing out to everyone.
  2. The second type of flyer is for placing on telephone poles. Its contents should include only a large photo of your pet, the words Lost and your phone number. The less said the better. When people pull up to a stop sign they don't have much time to read before they must begin going again. Do not use your hand out flyer for telephone flyers, no one will be able to read it from their car or take the time to step out of their vehicle to do so.

Key sentences for your flyers and why
These Four key sentences are VERY important:

These are the most important sentences besides your pets' information that should be on your hand out flyers, part of your hand out flyers. Please DO NOT leave any of these key sentences out. They can make the difference between getting your lost/stolen pet home again, or not.
  1. Please phone even if you think you might have seen our pet. *
  2. You can help by looking in any hiding places such as a garage, shed, under cars, under your home, or in wooded area's of your property, as he might be injured, or hiding. *
  3. Keep this flyer on your refrigerator in the event you might see him, it will be readily available to you. *
  4. Phone any time of the day or night, we are extremely worried about him. *

* Why the Four key sentences above are vitally important on your flyer:

Please phone even if you think you might see our dog/kitty.
(People don't like to disappoint you so often they don't call if there is a question in their minds "is that the lost pet or not".... asking them to call even if they might see your pet, opens the door wide for them to call you).

Keep this flyer on your refrigerator in the event you might see him, it will be readily available to you.
(This keeps your flyer in a handy to reach spot and not becoming lost)

You can help by looking in any hiding places such as a garage, shed, under cars, under your house, or in wooded area's of your property, as he might be injured, or hiding.
(This lets people know how they can help you, often people would love to help…they just don't know how they can).

Phone any time of the day or night, as we are extremely worried about him/her.
(This lets people know they can call you early in the morning or after dark…you wouldn't want to miss that "one" important call).

Where to distribute your flyers:

kitten paw   Deliver them house-to-house.  Place them rolled up between the knob and door jam, or under the edge of a doormat.

kitten paw   Deliver them to every Business in the area where your pet is lost.

kitten paw   Be sure to give flyers to the mail carriers in that area, also newspaper carriers, taxi cab company drivers, security for realty companies, (many use them now), and they might see your lost pet while making their rounds at night time.  Give your flyers to school bus drivers and the children, city bus drivers, golf course workers, churches, garbage collectors, meter readers, don't leave anyone out.  Do not just drop the flyers off at these businesses, make contact with the drivers themselves and hand them a flyer, they will see and feel your great need better this way.

kitten paw   Remember to provide everyone a hand out flyer as you search, not just a piece of paper with your name and phone number on it.
